Meets Bi-Weekly on Fridays from 12:30pm -2:00pm
What We Offer
A short-term support cohort designed for frontline professionals such as social workers, counselors, advocates, crisis responders, EMS personnel, and law enforcement, to manage secondary trauma, compassion fatigue, and prevent burnout.
Sesssion Details
- Frequency: Biweekly (6 sessions) on Fridays
- Dates: Dec. 6, 20, 2024; Jan. 3, 10, 17, 31, 2025
- Time: 12:30pm - 2:00pm
- Platform: Zoom
- Facilitator: Dakia "Kia" Davis, LCSW
Key Components
- Safe space for sharing and processing experienes
- Practicial tools and self-care strategies
- Peer support and connection
Extras: Participants receive a wellness care package including the book Trauma Stewardship, a journal, and self-care tools.
Registration: Registration is required, and space is limited to allow for adequate sharing among participants.
Our online support group meetings are held using a
simple, secure, and user-friendly online tool. These virtual gatherings provide an opportunity to gain valuable coping strategies and connect with peers/colleagues who understand your circumstances.
When you register, we will provide further information about these online meetings and instructions and how to join by video through a computer or smartphone.
Host Organization and Facilitator
North Carolina Victim Assistance Network (NCVAN) is a statewide non profit 501 (c)(3) organization whose mission is to serve loved ones of homicide victims and others impacted by violent crime by providing direct services, advocacy, outreach, and training so that communities are made stronger.
Kia Davis (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over ten years of experience in healthcare and community settings. She specializes in mindfulness and cognitive therapy for adults recovering from PTSD, major life changes, and chronic stress. Kia has extensive service with victims of violent crime, loved ones of homicide and those who have experienced traumatic loss. She currently runs a private therapy practice and supports NCVAN as a group facilitator and grief counselor.

NCVAN is also pleased to announce a special webinar series: “Nuts & Bolts: Tools and Resources in Addressing Essential Victim Needs,” designed to help service providers gain fundamental knowledge to advocate for and address common resource victims' needs.
Complete five of the seven webinars associated with this series and earn a certificate from NCVAN
Indicating that participants have an updated understanding of the fundamental resources crucial to many victims of violent crime or (co-victims of homicide) in crisis. The series's topics include healthcare, food benefits, employment/unemployment, housing, victim’s compensation, offender notification, mental health, and expanded professional development opportunities for advocates. Select webinars will be repeated to give participants multiple chances to register. The Nuts & Bolts Series webinars are denoted with a Bolt symbol on the calendar.
Additional Information
All trainings and webinars can be counted towards re-certification for those service providers who have already completed their professional certification through NCVAN’s Academy. To read about and register for upcoming webinars, click our training calendar below for details.
